You’ve always wanted to learn Spanish. It’s a beautiful language, why not? But now you have this event or trip or whatever it is, and it’s right around the corner, and you’re going to have to speak Spanish. You’re not in full panic mode just yet, but you want to know how to learn Spanish quickly. 

Well learning any language is going to take time, commitment and dedication, but if you want to know how to learn Spanish quickly, the key is to focus on a few survival phrases. Fortunately, the English and Spanish alphabets are pretty similar, and both languages share a bunch of cognates. (I talk about cognates in this post over here, if you’re looking for a short cut to picking up a bunch of vocabulary quickly.)

Today, though, I’m going to share a few survival phrases to help you get by. You may not master Spanish, but these phrases will help you with how to learn Spanish quickly.

Basic greetings                                      

   Good morning.                                       Buenos días.

   Good afternoon.                                       Buenas tardes.

   Good evening.                                       Buenas noches.

   Hello.                                       Hola.

   How are you?                                       Como estás?

   How are you?                                       ¿Como está usted? (formal)

   I am fine. And you?                                       Estoy bien. ¿Y tú?

Pleasantries

                  Please.                                       Por favor.

   Thank you.                                       Gracias.

   You're welcome.                                       De nada.

   Good bye.                                      Adiós.

   See you soon.                                       Nos vemos pronto.

   Excuse me.                                      Permiso.

   I'm sorry.                                       Disculpe.

   Can you help me?                                       ¿Usted me puede ayudar?

   What's your name?                                       ¿Cómo se llama usted?
